PRIDE OF RAMVIHAR - BRAVE HEART MAJOR NISHCHAY BHATIA S/O COLONEL ANIL BHATIA (D-515, RAM VIHAR
Major Nishchay Bhatia has been awarded the Gallantry Award " SENA MEDAL on the Eve of the 68th Republic Day.
His Citation reads as Under:-
1 .Maj Nishchay Bhatia posted in 18 Rashtriya Rifles is Coy Cdr in kupwara sector. On receiving some information on intervening night of 22/23 June 2016 , he launched an operation to neutralize a group of hardcore foreign militants , and rushed with his operation team to likely crossing area in thick jungles of kupwara.
2. By early morning 23 June, contact with militants was established . In ensuing gun battle/ firefight , two hardcore militants were killed. As Maj Nishchay attempted to get further closer , the terrorist suddenly unexpectedly sprang up, shouted Allah Ho Akbar and fired a rapid volley of bullets at Maj Nishchay at close range missing him by whisker. .............., Maj Nishchay retaliated with lightning speed firing aimed shots at terrorist and killing him on the spot.
3. In the face of grave danger , Maj Nishchay was undeterred and maintained cool nerves. Leading from front, disregarding personal safety and displaying raw courage , Maj Nishchay retaliated instantly with lightning speed , fired aimed shots at terrorist at very close range killing him on the spot
4. In this operation three hardcore heavily armed foreign militants were killed with nil casualty to own troops. For his fearless and courageous actions, Major Nishchay Bhatia is strongly recommended for award of SENA MEDAL( GALLANTRY).
